It is not what we do that is of importance, but who we are in what we do, that truly matters. It is the atmosphere produced by a man, the change that testifies, much more than our planned activities, that will have lasting influence for generations to come. Our lifestyle must reflect the image of our loving and compassionate Father. Often we fail, or get hurt, because of our hardened hearts.
We focus too much on what we do, how much we give, how others are pleased. We measure success of how good we are according to man's standards and we strive meaninglessly. A dissatisfied heart is what results, thickened, dysfunctional walls, blockages that restrict the life giving blood flow.
In our journey, we often forget our inadequacies and put ourselves on the throne of God, as if we could... We enjoy every moment of independence from Him, without even knowing it. Though present in every situation, silently watching and painfully listening, God will allow us to continue in our own human ways, until we expose our own ignorance by stumbling over self-constructed obstacles. Only then, are we willing to come back to Him empty, as paupers poor in spirit, to receive and be filled once again by His living waters, that will flow and shape our softened hearts and pump them ALIVE. Then only can His perfect love overflow into the lives of others.
