Decisions, decisions, decisions. No one ever said that making decisions was easy, truth is making wise decisions is even harder.Often, we end up choosing to do the things that hurt ourselves, our loved ones and those whom God has entrusted into our care. Because we are not all knowing, all powerful and all loving, we make wrong choices. We live in this world full of temptation, that blinds us from seeing through the eyes of God and deafens us from the shepherd's call. Our spirits may be willing, but our flesh is indeed weak. We fall, more often than not.
Wrong decisions are made but that is ok, if we could just stop and take a step back, look around us to see how lives are negatively affected because of what we choose to do or say. Then turn back and refocus, fixing our eyes on Jesus, and let Him lead. Giving in to temptation brings us nothing, but added pain and guilt, its consequences are so burdensome, why carry it? Being deceived into its temporal joy causes others to stumble and fall, relationships are destroyed, unrestored.
The prince of this world is powerless, yet so often we "exalt" him by blaming him for our situations , as if to tell him he has succeeded. Far from it! We shirk off responsibility towards our own actions when we attribute failures and chaos completely to that of spiritual attack or the evil one at work when in fact we ourselves have turned away from daddy God, abusing the privilege of that freedom of choice, giving in to our worldly desires, blinded, deafened....
We may live in this world of temptation, but we can Flee from it. Turn back! Return to first love! Temptation existed since the beginning. It is not a new thing. We ourselves are tempters, through simple words and deeds, causing others to fall, getting ourselves hurt because we forget how choked we are by this world. We are influenced by the influential, where their loud voices drown the Lord's. We often do not help the weak. We make decisions that do not benefit. Because we are distant, drifted, away from God. But you know what the good news is? We have every ability and power to resist it, because of what Jesus has done on the cross. Every temptation is in fact an opportunity to defeat the evil one and to make Jesus smile :) We have the power to overcome, the authority to speak life, through the privilege of prayer, and the gift of the Holy Spirit who leads us out of darkness into his glorious light. If only, we could seek LOVE and let LOVE lead.
